I don’t know if I have ever been to a show where I was excited for TWO bands that were playing.  Both An Horse and River City Extension were opening for Kevin Devine and I had to be there.  Me and Kristina, a girl from school whom I have a lot of similar music tastes with made the traffic-filled trek to Fitzgerald’s with me.  I made my way front row in anticipation of RCE and it was so worth it.  They were as energetic as ever and it made it even better than I knew a lot of the songs.  An Horse was next and I was filled with curiosity to see what they were like live.  I’ve heard a lot about them through Tegan and Sara and I’ve listened to their entire Rearrange Beds album on repeat and repeat and repeat.  I knew they were from Australia, but it was still so fun and refreshing to hear them talk in their killer accents.  They played a mix of old and new (Walls) songs, which is nice in one sense but I was really hoping to hear “Little Lungs” from Rearrange Beds.  After the show, we bought some merch and met with Kate and Damon (of An Horse).  They were super friendly and chatty.  Kate convinced us to stick around for Kevin Devin’s set, and I was digging it.  I definitely plan on looking into him more.  Top songs of the night were: “Camp Out,” “Post Cards,” and “Dressed Sharply.”
