Fences and the like

Me & Christopher Mansfield
After hearing the Fences track “My Girl the Horse,” (featuring Sara Quin of course!) I knew I had to see them when they came to Houston.  So, I did!  As I looked around the venue, I immediately felt out of place.  I decided to make the best of it so I made my way to the bar and settled into the crowd.  American Heist (the openers opener) played first and they were absolutely frightening.  They heavily encouraged moshpits and the drummer seemed quite fond of spitting into the air, lovely.  After they cleared the stage, I made my way to the front row for a nice view of Christopher Mansfield (Fences).  He was so quiet and tentative on stage, but I definitely enjoyed myself.  Him and his band played together beautifully and rocked out when they needed to.  I tracked him down after his set and asked him a few questions about Sara (I couldn’t resist) and he was really sweet to answer them and take a quick picture with me.  I hightailed it after that, maybe that makes me lame, but at least I didn’t get caught up in another potential moshpit!  Here are some short and sweet videos I took.
