I started this Steel Train filled weekend solo. Yes, the drive and parking situation made me nervous, but I knew seeing Jack, Justin, Evan, Jon, and Daniel would make it all worth it! I arrived early (as per usual) and stood in line with some pretty cool people. River City Extension kicked it off and honestly, they were amazing. They were the perfect start to the night! I mean seriously, their energy was infectious. My faves were: "Our New Intelligence" and "Bone Marrow Twist & Shout". In the latter, they all jumped off stage and started jamming with everyone in the crowd. So, so fun. Check out the videos I got below:

Quick video of "Bone Marrow Twist & Shout" (It's short, but you get the idea!)

Next on the bill was Steel Train. Oh, Steel Train, where do I begin? Well, it was one of the funnest times I've ever had by myself. They all looked and sounded great. I had a blast singing along and jamming out front row. But the icing on the cake was the introduction of "Touch Me Bad" into their playlist.

"Kill Monsters in the Rain"

Look at them cuties! "Road Song"

Me & Jon.  He's sweet :)
The boyfriend joined me on the short trek to Austin, mainly because he loves Austin but I'd like to think it's cause he trusts my taste in music. ;) We had a fabulous lunch at the Mellow Mushroom and had yummy (free) drinks at the hotel. Well, again River City Extension started off the night. And they were just as great as I remembered. They had SO much energy and I could tell Jonathan (the boyfriend) really enjoyed them. I felt like I was in on the secret when they got off the stage for "Bone Marrow" this time around. I really love how Samantha (Sam?) sings which is why "Our New Intelligence" is always jamming in my car!

A pretty decent clip of "Mexico"

Next up (obvs.) was Steel Train! I had so much fun at this show, despite some drunk douches who kept screaming for The Get Up Kids. But of course Jack handled it graciously and fabulously. There was a guy in front of me freaking out dancing and rocking out and it just made me smile how much fun he was having. Again, I was ecstatic to get the chance to sing along with "Touch Me Bad," mainly cause I worked so hard to memorize the lyrics!

"Touch Me Bad" (Please note the guy with the huge hand clapping gestures.)

UPDATE! As fate would have it, River City Extension is going on tour with An Horse (a band I've been eager to see!) in about a week.  My ticket is already purchased and I'm very excited to see River City Ext. again, especially since I've been able to listen to "The Unmistakable Man" more.
