ACL

10/08/10 - 10/10/10
Austin City Limits (Various Bands)
Zilker Park- Austin, TX

Friday
We got there too late for the Black Keys which was a bummer for sure, but we made due.  Beach House’s front woman’s voice was absolutely haunting.  It was nice to finally see the face behind that spooky voice.  Slightly Stoopid was next, and honestly they were the jam!  At that point, Jonathan and I were drunk on $7.00 beers so it was a blast. Vampire Weekend drew a huge crowd and was a lot of fun.

Manchester Orchestra was our first sighting of the day.  They were good, very raw and powerful.  Awesome discovery of “Shake it Out,” it seemed to be a crowd favorite.  One of the bands I was really excited to see was The xx.  They started out really solid, but I almost wish their set was shorter because it got a little monotonous after a while.  It seemed like the guy had some stage presence but the girl came off as a little shy, which is fine but doesn’t make for an exciting show.  Matt and Kim were up next!  So so so so fun.  It was absolutely batshit crazy, but so fun!  One huge, ravin’ dance party.  I haven’t been able to just let loose and have that much fun at a show in forever!  M.I.A. was alright, the big screens were filled with weird videos instead of what was going on onstage so we couldn’t really see anything.

Overall, I had a great first ACL experience, and if the lineup is right I hope to have a go at round two!  Maybe I'll see you there!
